PAPA 12 World Pinball Championships
Changes for 2009
This is a list of differences between PAPA 11 and PAPA 12. We are implementing these changes based on player feedback and new ideas. You may also want to review the changes made in 2008.
- We will be opening at 9:30am on Friday, instead of 8:30am. What we noticed was that players who arrived on Thursday played until midnight, then slept in the next morning, while players arriving on Friday weren't showing up at opening time, either.
- We are eliminating the Top Qualifier shootout because very few players found it interesting and it cramps the Sunday schedule.
- We will be starting the final rounds significantly earlier on Sunday - please read the schedule!
- Major malfunctions now allow for playing all remaining balls as a new game, rather than adding one ball of a new game at the end of the current game, at the request of the player and subject to approval by tournament officials. This may afford new strategic opportunities to the player.
- We have added specific wording about multiple groups of ties in qualifying, and how those players will pick their seeding going into finals.
- Tiebreakers for five or more players will now be arranged breadth-first, creating, for example, a group of three and a group of two, rather than a group of four and a solo player.
- We now have language to address the unlikely event of an exact tie score on one machine in the final rounds.
- We have added paragraphs addressing player collusion and deals about prize money.
- Our tournament rules have been licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 United States License.
We appreciate all forms of constructive criticism (please contact us), and look forward to seeing you this year!
